My Very own Christmas Tree

Sadly, Michelle and Lourens left for Pretoria last week and will be immigrating to Canada early next next year. They stayed in Malcolm and Jacqui's house, which is not far from the school! Last Wednesday afternoon, I went to visit Michelle in my electric chair and spent the afternoon with her.
I sat with her while she sorted though some stuff! I happily ended up relieving her of their Christmas tree!

I was so excited about the tree that Michelle went out that very afternoon and bought me some lights and beautiful decorations! I had
such fun decorating the tree!

Thank you so much Michelle and Lourens! I will think of you guys every time I enjoy the tree!

The Craziness Begins

My stock for next year has started arriving.
We get our uniforms from Lombards Tzaneen but they are manufactured in Capetown. So instead of these boxes being delivered to Tzaneen and transported back up to Polokwane, it is delivered directly to Northern Academy. Our Lombards supplier sends two guys through to Polokwane and the three of us check the boxes together, saving on time and transport costs.

On this day we checked 70 boxes of clothing. We are expecting about another 40 boxes of clothes to arrive.

In the meantime my stationery is arriving by the ton.

I shamelessly took to the dance floor in my electric wheelchair and had a ball but thankfully (as far as I know) there are no photos to prove my reckless behaviour.

I even "stood" in line with all the other single ladies to try and catch the bride's bouquet. Though, ofcourse I missed. However the lady who did catch it very kindly gave it to me!

Nelstroom Weekend

I know that I have been very slack with my blogging of late but with the amount of work that I have had to deal with over the past few months left me with no time at all to blog, was simply too tired. But, our Lord is so very faithful, things have changed and I am now back to doing just my usual job again, which is hectic enough but having experienced the pressure of a double load, I am left feeling very thankful and content with my present job.
The fact that I have spoilt myself with a lovely niffty little camera will help ensure that I become a more faithful blogger!

Last weekend the six of us had the privilege of attending a bush wedding at a lovely lodge in Nelstroom. David & Vonè (Jewelry Manufacturers in Polokwane) finally decided to tie the knot after five years.
It truly was an unforgettable weekend and the bond between myself and my christian family was even more firmly cemented.

Saturday morning was self catering and we enjoyed a brunch prepared by Mike, Kea, Wendy and Shannon. Nicki's job was supervising and I made sure that Nicki did a good job.

Mike and Kea kindly insisted on taking my electric wheelchair along. Though very heavy and cumbersome, Mike and Kea ensured that I always had it when I needed it! It really gave me much independence and I enjoyed going off on my own along little bush paths.

A real spoil

I spent a couple of days with Liz during this past long weekend! The Kents were away and even though Liz was studying like mad, it was good to be able to spend time with her! We did get in some nice chats during her breaks and while she studied, I either read or slept. Was a very relaxing time! One of my definite highlights of the weekend was a lovely hot bubble bath, the first bath I have had in a very long time! The beauty of this bath is that it is nice and low so getting in and out was not too much of a problem. Being winter and having a shower with hot water problems back at the flat, this bath really was a treat! Liz went a step further and lit the bathroom up with candles! I think I was in there for about an hour!
After the bath, Liz tried out a massaging machine which I had bought that same day. Amazingly, this machine is quite powerful and we managed to dissolve quite a few knots in my back and neck. Needless to say, I had a very good nights sleep that night. Thank you Liz.

Thrills & almost Spills

I know it has been awhile since my last post! Truth is, I have been trying for 3 weeks to upload photo's of my holiday but for some strange reason, this has proven impossible, any help please???
Anyway, the holiday, as enjoyable as it was, is now old news and we are back into full swing of things again!

Yesterday I had a friend, Martin, visit! Scooters delivered a wonderful lunch of pizza and wickedly delicious dessert. After lunch we went for a walk, I was in the electric wheelchair! We walked right around the Flora Park dam, I so enjoyed the warm sunlight and fresh air!
But then we reached the bicycle/skating path. This path is narrow and full of steep humps and slopes and Martin suggested that I attempt this path but not slowly! Well, I think the last time I laughed so much was in December during one of my famous Thompson visits! Going up those slopes and zooming down again was such a thrill, even though my steering was really lacking, to say the least!
The ultimate was the last hump (or should I say 'donga')? My mistake was that I did not put the chair into a high enough speed and I was just reaching the top when the chair tipped back! I panicked (arms and legs in the air, unable to utter a sound). Ofcourse Martin was right behind and assured me that the little back wheels had done a real good job in preventing the chair from tipping back completely!
Those of you who know me well, will know that the funniest part of situations such as these are the reactions of bystanders and believe me, this time was no exception! There is now way to describe these reactions but trust me, they were PRICELESS
