Marking Centre Grrrrrrrr!

The High school has been cordoned off as it is being used as a Marking Centre. There are +/- 600 Markers and security is so tight, one can hardly breath! I even have a security guard posted a few feet away from my flat during the day!

This is the Pass which I need just to get to my flat. Apologies for the bad photo but I took it myself, that should explain everything! The lady who kindly came to fetch me for church yesterday, almost lost her sanctification!!! The guards refused point blank to allow her on to the premises to pick me up!!! She finally phoned me after she had made 3 trips between the two entrance gates and had explained a dozen times that I was disabled and unable to walk to the gate! I in turn phoned one of our male teachers and asked him to sort out the problem. I really don't blame the guards, after all, they are just doing their jobs. I am however annoyed with school management as I brought this potential problem to their attention a month ago and gave ideas for possible solutions but I was told that I had nothing to worry about!!!
Anyway, there is a light at the end of the tunnel:) I will be staying with Chris & Bev as from Thursday. My last day at work is next Monday. Thankfully, I seem to have a lift to Johannesburg next Tuesday where I will be staying with Gerhard and Christelle! On Friday the 11th I will be going to Glen and Antje until the 20th!!! Really, really looking forward to this trip.

Bits & Pieces!!!

These are just some interesting tit-bits that I thought I would share! Hopefully it'll put a smile on your dial!!!

This is a fridge magnet which my Supervisor bought for me the other day!!! Though it does not say much about me, I still have a really good giggle every time I see it! Thanks Sonja!!!

Nic, Tammy and myself went to the Kruger Park for a weekend at the end of October. We wanted to explore the camp but didn't have a wheelchair. So we asked reception for one and much to our surprise, they brought this cleverly homemade one!!! Though very hard to push, I can imagine that these low cost chairs would be of great benefit to those in our country who can't afford a proper wheelchair but I wonder how our overseas guests would feel if they were given this chair. They would probably think it was the ultimate African experience!!!
On one of our game drives, during the same weekend, we came across a cluster of cars containing very excited occupants. Apparently there was a leopard in the area and he had killed and dragged a porcupine up this tree. If you look closely, you'll see it's intestines hanging out!!

Wonderful Weekend!!!

My weekend kicked off with a meal at the new Five Star hotel in Polokwane on Friday evening! It was our staff Year-end function and quite larney, just a pity my photo's didn't come out so well!

On Saturday morning we enjoyed getting together for ladies book club!! Shirley hosted this one and we were able to enjoy her lovely new veranda! To be honest, though we get to enjoy many books, the book club is just an excuse the get together for some great fellowship!
I enjoyed a nice cuddle with Veronica's little one (Corban) Santie is a very proud Granny!

At about 5pm on Saturday, my dear friend Liz picked me up and we spent a good amount of time browsing book and music shops for Christmas gifts!!!
Liz and I had dinner at our usual restaurant, Mug 'n Bean and had the pleasure of Doug and Shanaè joining us, well, put it this way, Shanaè was a pleasure:) Ok, just joking, so was Doug!
Ozzi 2 & Ozzie 1
Ozzie 1 (Osborne) has been a waiter at Mug 'n Bean for awhile now. He is from Zimbabwe and knows Liz & I well. He even knows my special needs and it is such a pleasure for me to be served without having to always ask for a straw etc. Pretty soon he will be serving me my food already cut up:) Ozzie 1 very enthusiastically introduced us to Ozzie 2 (Oswald) who turns out to be his twin brother!!! We are so thankful that Ozzie 2 was also able to get a job in SA and help provide for their struggling family back in Zims.
After our meal, Liz and I went to the movies, we watched "Law Abiding Citizen". We both thought it was very original and full of suspense, though definitely not for children!!!

After a really good service on Sunday morning, a bunch of us got together to celebrate Tammy's 30th birthday!!! Happy Birthday my friend, life only starts now!!!

Nic took great delight in organizing his wife's surprise get together!!!

An Idea of the group that all invaded Nic & Tammy's home!!!
Pizza was the name of the game!!!
Had a wonderful time catching up with Dorcas

Shanaè managed to get a really good shot of Tanya and herself! Although it really does look mischievous!!!

IT IS MY PRAYER THAT ALL MY BLOGGER FRIENDS WILL HAVE A VERY BLESSED WEEK!!!

Stationery for Africa

God has been so very good to us in that almost ALL of my stock has arrived and been processed. With about a month to go before we are due to close, Lord willing, I be able to distribute as much stationery as possible thus helping reduce the pressure of next year's 'back to school' rush a little!
This week we have had over R510,064.00 worth of stationery delivered and I am still waiting for another R168,340.00 of exercise books and pens!

If you look carefully, you can see how the shelves are bending under the weight!

It was rather difficult to get a good shot of everything!

This is just a fraction of the amount of paper and cardboard that I now have in stock!!!

To be honest, I am very tired but thankful that things are going well!!!
Also very grateful for Rahab and Philistus' help!!! They are such a blessing!!!

Bad Kitty

Tigger only goes out at night as he is very scared of the MANY kids around the school. One of the first things I do when I wake up in the mornings is check if he has come home! Yesterday, he wasn't around when I awoke. I was so worried that something had happened to him and even by the time I left for work, his had not put in an appearance. But thankfully, he was there when I got home after work at about 3pm. I was so relieved to see him that I am seriously thinking of fastening the biggest cow bell that I can find around his neck!!! Just kidding, though it is tempting!!!

Let's continue striving to make a difference!

We recently had our elections for the Centenary Home Executive Management Committee as well as for the Provincial Executive Committee for the Association for Physically Disabled, Limpopo Province!!! This year was the ninth year which I was elected to serve, I just pray that we can continue making a difference in the lives of so many disabled people who are less fortunate!!!

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Yesterday I went to church with my Bible study girls, we all walk to church... well ok, I go with them in the electric wheelchair!!! The Service was as usual, very good but these past two weeks have been on the latter part of John 6 "The Marks of a True Disciple". I really did enjoy the challenge!!!

I was then very blessed to spend the afternoon with my good friend, Marietjie and her three children! Had much fun and laughter, just a pity I didn't get a snap of the two boys! Little Carla enjoyed cooling down under the sprayer!

You said what???

" Here comes trouble"

"Can I tell?"

One VERY tired chicken!!!

Riddle

So this is my storeroom!
As you can see, the shelves are stuffed
and the floor space is packed un to the roof...

These bags still need to be packed away...
and these bags...

and these...
Any suggestions???
I suppose without challenges, life would be boring!!!

My AD Group!
Yesterday I had the honour of teaching my weekly AD (Accountability Discipleship) group. This is such a joy as I have a little group of young grade 8's and it has been wonderful to to see how God is working in their lives! As they are in the middle of writing exams, I decided to work through Proverbs 3:5-6 with them and then we had a time of praying for each other. This was also an encouraging time for me!

A very full uniform shop!

Shelves are overflowing!
And more boxes!!!
Well, so many of my friends have managed to get into the habit of blogging Now that I have better access to the net, lets see if it is contagious !

Work is hectic, 100's of rands of stock is rolling in every day but by God's amazing grace we are managing to keep up with the unpacking, checking and processing of it! God sees to also be taking care of storage space for me. Every time I am convinced that no way will one more sock be squeezed into the room, Rahab and Philistus (my faithful helpers) manage to get ten more boxes of tracksuits into the storeroom, get the picture???

Will see if I can post a picture at a later stage!
